It will be an under-strength Franklin Bulls side that will begin their fifth season in the Sal’s NBL when they face the Giants in Nelson on Sunday.

Boasting a strong roster when available – the Bulls are missing Isaac Davidson, Jordan Hunt, Dom Kelman-Poto and their import quota for the opening game of the season.

They got a boost with recently signed import guard Luther Muhammad cleared to play in Nelson – the ex-Sun Devils guard has just finished playing professionally in Finland.

The Bulls will rely heavily on him as well as star Tall Blacks signings Ethan Rusbatch and Sam Timmins.

“Prep for us has been what feels like a long time, but the coaching staff have done a great job preparing us to be game ready and I know all the lads are keen to get out for a real hiss on court,’ Rusbatch said.

“Still have guys to get in but always next man up mentality for us.

“New place and team for me but stoked be here and can’t wait to lead the boys into battle.”

The Bulls made the playoffs for the first time in their history last season and have secured a strong local following.

They face the Giants in the final game of the opening round at the Trafalgar Centre at 6pm Sunday.
