Like many of you, we are sports fans, and fervent supporters of sport in our Counties region as well as successes by locals across a wide gambit of sporting competition.
In the current media landscape, alas there are few, if any outlets for local sport to get a voice, and to champion successes in all sport at all levels.
So we want to do something about it. Welcome to Counties Sports Hub. It is an idea formulated by Counites people, driven by Counties media professionals and wanting to feature Counties sporting prowess.
We are not competing with sporting organisations – but supporting them to focus on the stories that need to be championed. Sports clubs or organisations continue with their website for draws, results and club information. We will write those great stories about the people, the triumphs, and the challenges.
Who Are We?
Counties Sports Hub is driven by well-known local journalist Dale Budge. The ex-Radio Sport and NZ Herald reporter now mixes his time working with the Auckland Tuatara Baseball organisation and volunteering on the Committee of Patumahoe Rugby Club.
Ian Hepenstall has been a local for 20 years, operates a leading sports media company across a range of sports, Olympic and Commonwealth Games, serve as the Blues Rugby media manager and volunteers at Counties Rugby Union.
Gorilla Marketing a boutique marketing agency, specialising in web development design and digital marketing. Basically the back end team to ensure this page works while looking beautiful.
We also have support from the likes of well-known local photographer Richard Spranger and by Caley Wilson and Ross McConnell, two Pukekohe locals, who have given us use of their Blinder communications system which is growing rapidly amongst sporting organisations around the globe.
How Does It Work?
We provide all the framework – the website, social platforms, and marketing tools.
Sporting individuals or organisations decide if they want us to tell their stories. Together we come up with the ideas, and then the Counties Sports Hub team will do all the rest – write the stories, take the photos and even the videos. And then share them on our network.
