The government decision to send Auckland back to Alert Level 3 and the rest of the country to Alert Level 2 from Sunday means all sport in the region has been halted for at least the next week.

At Level 3 teams cannot train together and no community sport can be played.

Counties Manukau Cricket Association games were completed on Saturday ahead of the Prime Minister’s announcement but games will not be possible next weekend.

The annual Round the Bays running event, Baseball New Zealand U16 National Championships, Athletics New Zealand Track and Field Championships have all been postponed or cancelled, while New Zealand Cricket has moved scheduled T20 internationals against Australia to other locations.

The current Alert Level restrictions will be in place for at least a week.

At Alert Level 2 most community sport can resume, with gatherings of less than 100 people.
