The Fox Memorial Premiership qualifiers begin on Saturday as six local clubs attempt to qualify for Auckland Rugby League’s top rugby league competition.

Sixteen teams get whittled down to 12 over the next three weeks as teams are place in pools of four, with the top three progressing to the Fox Memorial Premiership and the remaining four sides dropping into the Sharman Cup.

Pool D consists of four local outfits. The Papakura Sea Eagles, fresh off playing semi-final rugby league in 2023, face the Otara Scorpions – the leading side from the Sharman Cup a year ago in Papakura.

The Mangere East Hawks, winless in last year’s premiership, travel to Bert Henham Park to play the Otahuhu Leopards.

The Howick Hornets are the sole local side in Pool C and face an opening round test against the Marist Saints at Paparoa Park.

The Manukau Magpies will face a road trip in their opening match in Pool B when they face the Mt Albert Lions at Fowlds Park.
