Pukekohe’s Liam Lawson has kept his slim title chances alive with a podium finish on Sunday night in the latest round of the FIA Formula 3 championship in Belgium.

The teenager fought his way back to fourth in the standings after his fifth podium finish of the season at the famous Spa Francochamps.

Lawson had a slow start in Sunday’s feature race, falling as low as seventh before fighting his way back to third.

It follows a disappointing ninth-place finish in Saturday’s race.

Lawson trails series leader Logan Sargeant by 41 points

There are two rounds remaining with the series moving to Monza in Italy next weekend before finishing at Mugello the following week.
