Brookby’s Jack Hawkeswood has continued his hot form during the Covid-19-interrupted rally season by claiming victory at the Hoddle Road Rally Sprint in the Waikato over the weekend.

The son of 2017 national champion Andrew Hawkeswood came out on top of the 31 drivers on show on the famous piece of road near Otorohanga.

Hawkeswood junior beat out Pukekohe’s Dylan Turner in the Audi AP4 by 4.2 seconds while former NZRC stars Todd Bawden and Grant Blackberry were third and fourth respectively.

The Mazda AP4 driver won at a rally sprint in Maramarua a few weeks ago and is warming up for the City of Auckland Rally and Battle of Jacks Ridge in November.

Those two events will see New Zealand’s leading drivers competing on the purpose-built stage constructed on Andrew Hawkeswood’s property in Brookby including former WRC star Hayden Paddon.

The Jacks Ridge property and event is named after him.
