Maramarua 1 completed a perfect season as they won the Premier Gold final 50-27 over Pythons V.S.N in a decider two seasons in the making at Pukekohe Netball Centre on Saturday.
Jody McCort’s side proved to strong for the plucky Pythons outfit – jumping out to a slender lead by the end of the first quarter before powering out to a significant lead through the second and third quarters.
ANZ Premiership star shooter Ivana Rowland showcased her classy skills as she dominated the shooting circle for Maramarua 1.
McCort was able to go to her bench and give the whole squad some minutes as they eased to a 23-goal victory.
It comes after the 2020 and 2021 seasons were interrupted by COVID – last year’s final was set to see the same two sides battle it out before a lockdown was called in the days leading into the final.
Te Kohanga Pango also completed a season in which they won every game they played after winning the Premier Silver Final 48-26 over Fusion Alpha.
Te Kohanga made the move up to Premier Silver midway through the season and have shown the skills to compete at the absolute top level by taking out that trophy as well.
Maramarua A claimed victory in the Premier Bronze final after taking a 21-16 win over Patumahoe 1.
