The Manukau Magpies opened the latest round of the Fox Memorial Premiership with a 32-8 win over the bottom-placed Mangere East Hawks in the television game on Wednesday night.

It is the second win of the season for a side playing their first year in the Fox Memorial Premiership and continues their ascent.

The Papakura Sea Eagles have secured a narrow 16-14 win over the Glenora Bears on the road at Harold Moody Park.

It was a big win for the Sea Eagles, who move up to eighth and in front of the Bears as a result.

The Howick Hornets continued their strong start to the 2023 campaign with a 25-12 victory over the Te Atatu Roosters at Paparoa Park.

The Hornets hold third position on the ladder.

The Otahuhu Leopards went down to the Pt Chevalier Pirates 14-6 at Bert Henham Park.

The Otara Scorpions grabbed a 40-30 win over the Northcote Tigers in the Sharman Cup to remain atop the standings.

The Papatoetoe Panthers collected their second win of the season when they accounted for the Ellerslie Eagles 35-22.

Manurewa picked up a walk-over win against the Glenfield Greyhounds but the Pakuranga Jaguars fell to the Hibiscus Coast Raiders 36-8.

In the Women’s Premiership, the Otahuhu Leopards gained a 28-16 win over Taniwharau, while Otara edged Howick 14-12 in the television game.

Manurewa had the bye.

Otara top the standings after four rounds with Howick in second, Manurewa in fifth and Otahuhu in sixth.
