Pukekohe’s Lincoln Farms-trained Copy That won the New Zealand Trotting Cup in an upset at Addington Raceway on Tuesday.

Copy That, driven by Blair Orange, upstaged favourite Self Assured to win the $600,000 feature race at an empty Addington Raceway due to the current COVID restrictions.

Trained by Ray Green, Copy That led for the majority of the 3,200m race and sprinted away at the end to win Pukekohe arguably its first ever NZ Cup.

“I couldn’t fault that. It worked out how I’d hoped it would, but I didn’t expect it. It was a brilliant win, he won easily, and so he should have with the trip he got,” Green told Trackside TV.

“He was doing whatever he had to do, nobody challenged him early. I was expecting some company but it never arrived.”

Green was forced to watch from his Pukekohe home due to the current restrictions around inter-regional travel.
