Pukekohe High School has won the silver medal at the Northern Region Qualifying tournament for the Secondary Schools 3×3 Nationals.

The earned a spot at the national championships in Wellington next month as a result. Only the top 12 schools in the country take part.

The Malachi Tulafono-coached team beat all Auckland schools and lost out to Rotorua Boys in the final after a brilliant tournament.

It follows their success in reaching the knockout stage of the Basketball New Zealand Secondary Schools national champs for the first time in history late last year.

The Pukekohe High School outfit will remain together for the next couple of years, with the majority of the players in Year 12 and the exception being in Year 11.
