The Franklin Bulls have slumped to their third-straight loss in the SalsNBL after going down 103-82 to a red-hot Otago Nuggets at the Franklin Pool & Leisure Centre Thursday night.

The visitors dominated the paint and out-rebounded the Bulls with former Franklin centre Sam Timmins scoring 31 points and grabbing 16 rebounds against his old teammates.

Zane Waterman paced the Bulls with 21 points and six rebounds while Denhym Brooke had 17 points, five rebounds and four blocks.

New Zealand Breakers player Isaac Davidson made his season debut for the home side, scoring 10 points to give fans a glimpse of what they can expect once he links up with the Bulls fulltime in a couple of weeks.

“Big Sam is hard to deal with. We had him last year so we know this,” Bulls coach Jamie Reddish said. “[Isaiah] Moss shot the ball well and [Gerasimos] McKay shot the ball well and they shifted it well against our defense. They exposed us a little bit but we just got to go back to the drawing board, get better at those things and come back out next Friday against the Hawks.

“Isaac had a really good first game for us. The guys coming off the bench shot really well for us. We just have to get more of what we like – moving the ball, finding our guys and hitting the spots.”

The Bulls are in action next Friday when the in-form Bay Hawks come to Pukekohe.
