The New Zealand Breakers have gone down 84-73 to the Illawarra Hawks in their Australian NBL visit to the Franklin Pool & Leisure Centre in Pukekohe.

The Breakers led through the opening two quarters but were outplayed down the stretch as the Hawks cruised to a win that sees them hold down a top four spot on the ladder.

Finn Delany led the Breakers with 24 points and five rebounds while Issac Davidson, who played for the hometown Franklin Bulls, managed only a brief cameo on court.

A near capacity crowd enjoyed seeing high level basketball come to Pukekohe.
