Pukekohe will host its first ever Sal’s National Basketball League match on Sunday April 25 next year as the Franklin Bulls face cross-town rivals the Auckland Huskies.

That mouth-watering contest was confirmed as the club’s 2021 season-opening match as the 2021 NBL draw was released today.

The Bulls had been set to play their inaugural season at the Franklin Recreation Centre prior to COVID-19 interrupting the competition. In the end the entire NBL was played at Trusts Stadium in Waitakere.

The Bulls will play two-straight matches at home to start their campaign, hosting the Manawatu Jets on Saturday May 1 also in round one before travelling to New Plymouth to face the Taranaki Mountainairs on Thursday May 6.

The 10-team league will see the return of the Hawke’s Bay Hawks, Wellington Saints and Southland Sharks, who all sat out the 2020 season.

The 2021 season will conclude the league’s 40th season with a Final 4, where all finals matches will be played at one venue.
