Franklin United were the big winners on the opening day of the Northern Region Football season as they claimed a 7-0 win over Unimount Bohs in division 2 action.

Melville United have beaten Manukau United 5-3 in the Northern League football contest in Hamilton on Saturday.

The home side scored in the fourth minute before Maro Bonsu-Maro equalised a moment later.

Two more goals for the home side followed in the first half before Moses Dyer got one back before the break.

Melville grabbed another two goals in the second half before Dyer scored a second in stoppage time.

Papatoetoe AFC scored a pair of goals (Sandip Singh, KT Kanon) to beat Greenhithe FC in Division 2 action.

Beachlands Maraetai scored a 0-0 draw with Northland FC while Franklin United piled on the goals to hammer Unimount Bohs 7-0 at Drury.

Harrison Sage, Ashley Gower-Rudman, Stephen Ashby-Peckham, Tim Richardson, Pedro Rosas Gallardo, Shahil Kumar and Henry Fa’arodo all got themselves on the score sheet.
