Onewhero’s Ricci Putohe has finished runner-up at the Future Champions Golf North Island Open at Windross Farm in Auckland.

The teenager had to deal with extreme elements this week – wind and torrential rain hampering his first round on Monday while sun, heat and wind hindered the second round on Tuesday.

Putohe shot an even par 72 to be third equal after the first round and then scored three over on Tuesday in his second round to finish with a three over 147 – good enough for second place in the tournament.

He finished three shots behind the winner.

Both golfers have earned qualification for the Calloway World Juniors in the United States.
