The wet weather in the Auckland region has wreaked havoc with local golf courses with most remaining shut for the moment.

Record levels of rainfall have resulted in significant flooding throughout the upper North Island with four deaths in the wider Auckland region.

Clarks Beach Golf Club is closed until Saturday at the earliest and they have posed on social media asking for volunteers to assist getting the course ready to potentially open on the weekend.

We appreciate that there is lots of work to do for our little Greens Team, and we would like to invite any member or community to volunteer to support our working bee,” The Facebook post read. “We have lots of work to get the job done so we can open up in time for the weekend.”

Waiuku Golf and Squash Club was another to feel the brunt of the weather – the club will remain closed through Friday at the earliest according to a post on their Facebook page.

Maramarua Golf Club avoided major damage but has banned the use of carts temporarily.

In some encouraging news Pukekohe Golf Club opened again on Thursday after being seriously under water at times over the past week.
