Pukekohe Metro will host old foes Karaka in the Duthie Cup one-day final at Bledisloe Park on February 12.

The two old rivals will go head-to-head for the second major piece of silverware up for grabs this season after Manukau City took out the Inder Lynch T20 trophy.

Despite a disappointing T20 campaign, Pukekohe Metro have continued their dominance of the Duthie Cup this summer – unbeaten through round robin play despite missing several key players on representative duty in two of those matches.

It backs up a tremendous 2020-21 summer in which they swept all three major Counties Manukau Cricket Association trophies across the three formats as well as winning the Spark Regional Competition.

Karaka have looked to be Pukekohe Metro’s equal for the most part but have struggled on the days when their own rep players were absent.

None-the-less the return of Sam Varcoe and Luke Williamson will give Karaka confidence they can beat Pukekohe Metro on the big stage with the trophy on the line.

Pukekohe Metro, without skipper Cameron Hardwick, Kurt Barnes, Thomas Parima, Leon Marconi, Marcel Marconi, Bharat Popli and Katene Clarke, beat Karaka comfortably on Saturday.

But with both teams having the majority of their rep stars available, the final will be a different contest.
