Long-serving husband and wife administrators Glenn and Kelly Flavell have been made life members of the Ardmore Marist rugby club at the club’s AGM this month.

Glenn Flavell started with the club in 2001 as a volunteer/coach/manager/cleaner/sponsor when his son’s team needed a coach.  In 2007 he joined the senior committee and became senior president in 2012 through until 2020.

He has represented the club on the Counties Manukau Rugby Council of Delegates since 2018 and is also a member of the Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union Board.

Kelly Flavell joined the club along with Glenn in 2001 and could be found at the club each Saturday during the winter season from 7am setting up until early evening, dealing with kitchen duties, taking payments, managing enquiries, organising after match meals, uniforms and training gear and anything else that needed doing.  She gave up her own time to do what was needed to keep the club running smoothly.

She did it all with true and genuine love and passion for Ardmore Marist whilst always respecting its past and present legacy.  She has been a volunteer of the club for the past 20 years and had many roles including coach/manager/ kitchenhand/cleaner and sponsor through to her current role as club manager which she took on in 2013.

The pair received numerous nominations for life membership and were a popular selection for the honour.
