Pukekohe youngster Billy Frazer is one of seven junior drivers on a shortlist to get a Castrol-backed drive in the 2022 New Zealand Grand Prix.

Frazer impressed last summer competing in the Toyota Racing Series, including at the New Zealand Grand Prix at Hampton Downs.

He will be up against Callum Crawley, Josh Donohue, Jordan Michels, Kaleb Ngatoa, James Penrose and Peter Vodanovich.

A one-on-one interview with the Castrol judging panel is the last step for these seven drivers, with the winner to get their drive at the Grand Prix as a prize.

“Thanks to Castrol for giving New Zealand’s junior drivers this awesome opportunity to compete in this iconic race,” Frazer said on his Facebook page.

“Can’t think of a better way to spend the NZ summer.”

The 2022 New Zealand Grand Prix takes place at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park on February 11-13.
