Sports clubs in the Counties Manukau region are set to access up to $130,000 just by getting members to get their first, second or booster COVID-19 vaccinations.

Counties Manukau Sports Foundation has partnered with a variety of health providers to get as many people across the Counties Manukau region vaccinated.

Counties Manukau Sports Foundation is offering $20 per vaccination to your registered local sports club (must be affiliated to a national or regional sports body recognised by Sport New Zealand and in the Counties Manukau region) when you come and get your first, second or booster shot at the pop-up drive-thru at Manukau Sports Dome on Friday December 10 (Midday-6pm) or Saturday December 11 (9am-6pm).

“The whole sporting community needs to be assured that by continuing in sport, or those thinking about entering into sport, that clubs, administrators, athletes and everyone involved has been vaccinated to a certain level,” said Counties Manukau Sports Foundation chief executive Russell Preston.

“Parents and caregivers need to be assured that by allowing their children to participate in sport, they are doing so in a safe environment.

“Whilst participating in outdoor environments is one aspect of clubs, the rules are much stronger for supporters of sport if they wish to enter into clubrooms or changing rooms so the sooner the sporting community is fully engaged in the process of vaccination, the sooner the community can get back to some form of normality.”

Anyone getting their first or second shots between November 13 and whenever the Counties Manukau District Health Board reaches the 905 double-vaccinated threshold will go into the draw to win a Holden Barina car.

There are also fuel vouchers, Countdown vouchers and other spot prizes to be won.
