Three Counties Manukau drivers have been ranked in the prestigious Autosport top 50 drivers in the world ranking for the year of 2021.

Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen, Indycar star Scott Dixon and Formula 2 prodigy Liam Lawson have all been ranked by the British magazine/website as some of the best drivers on the planet.

Van Gisbergen was ranked 16th after his comprehensive triumph in the 2021 Supercars Championship. In addition to that he won a miraculous New Zealand Grand Prix during the qualifying period, having started from pit lane.

Dixon falls to 29th on the list after a year where he relinquished his Indycar crown to Chip Ganassi teammate Alex Palou but is still recognised for another successful season.

Lawson is a new entry into the famous list, coming in at position 34 after winning races in Formula 2 and showing terrific pace while he was pipped for the DTM Championship in controversial circumstances.

His inclusion indicates how highly regarded the Pukekohe youngster is and it appears now only a matter of time before he makes it to Formula 1.

The only other New Zealand in the top 50 was Formula E star Mitch Evans, who ranked 11th.

Lewis Hamilton edged 2021 Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen to be ranked number one.
