The Orb360 Counties Manukau Premier League continues to offer a fascinating mix of skills, entertainment and colour as we head into the knockout stages at Bruce Pulman Park in Papakura this coming Sunday.

The final group stage offered some fascinating match-ups, none more so than in Group 3, where the Sri Lions had a do-or-die fixture against the ever improving Turtles XI. On winning the toss the Sri Lions opted to have a bat and, would have been a little bit on edge at the halfway stage, as good bowling from the Turtles XI restricted them to their lowest score of the tournament so far on what is a high scoring ground.

However, with everything on the line, the boys from Sri Lanka dug deep and showed their class with ball in hand, and in the field. Their 54-run win proving enough to take them through to the quarter finals ahead of the Young Fighters on run rate.

The most astonishing team and player performance of the day came out of Pool 2, where Jaggy Singh of Charda Punjab hit two hundreds in the same day, while his team amassed 567 runs in their two games and a scarcely believable run rate of 14.2 runs per over in their 40 overs at bat.

The Orb360 Game Day sponsors for the quarter-finals are Global Finance and Ashish Khurana of Ray White, Papakura, and this weekend holds some mouth-watering match-ups with all teams backing their chances.

Pre-tournament favourites Pitch Panthers and Charda Punjab will face their first big examinations with the Charda Punjab vs Sri Lions game in particular a classic duel of styles as the power game of Charda Punjab tries to out-muscle the silky skills of the Sri Lions.

The in-form Mighty Kings take on the very competitive Friends XI whilst Powerful Rangers and Daredevils looks to be a very even match-up indeed. A great day of cricket at Bruce Pulman is expected.
