Pukekohe’s Matthew Payne was the fastest driver in Friday practice ahead of the second round of the Castrol Toyota Racing Series at Hampton Downs.
Payne set a time of 1.01.393 during the day’s final 30-minute session to edge Kaleb Ngatoa for top spot.
Fellow Pukekohe teenager Billy Frazer was third fastest.
Saturday’s schedule features a 15-minute qualifying session at 8.50 am, before two races across the day with the first starting at 10.55 am and second at 3.20 pm.
Payne leads the Castrol Toyota Racing Series standings after the opening round of three.
