Catcher Tairea Thompson drove in a pair of runs while fellow Tuatara Pathways player Taylor Irwin scored a pair of runs as the Counties Colts accounted for the Waitakere Bears 7-4 at Karaka Sports Complex.

Outfielder Chase Mason and second baseman Jaxson Williams drove in the other runs as the home side piled on five runs in the third inning to take control.

It was the third win of the season for the Colts, who seem to be getting better each week.

Youngster Matthew Gavin struck out six and gave up an earned run over four innings starting for Counties while lefty Jordan Te Puna struck out five in relief to get the win.
