The Auckland Baseball Association season will not start until the new year with the pre-Christmas portion of the season ruined by COVID.

The ABA executive has made the decision to start competition games from January 8, meaning the Counties Baseball teams won’t be back on the diamond in anger until after the Christmas break.

It follows the lead of Counties Manukau Softball, which also held back on starting competition games until the New Year.

There is the possibility of teams playing some friendlies before the competition start date to help get game ready.

Counties Baseball is planning on entering teams in Premier, 19U, 16U, 13U and tee ball this season.
