Pukekohe racer Liam Lawson has endured a round to forget at Imola in Italy in the latest stop of the Formula 1 World Championship.

The Red Bull Junior driver finished a lowly eighth in the sprint race before being shunted into the wall and failing to finish the feature race overnight.

Lawson had been running as high as third but had fallen down the order by the time he went off the track with four laps remaining.

The talented teenager leaves Imola with just one competition point to show for his weekend and drops to fourth in the standings.
