Two-time defending Supercars champion and Manukau City local Shane van Gisbergen will turn his hand to speedway this summer.
The versatile Van Gisbergen will compete in the North Island Sprint Car Championship over the coming weeks, starting with a round at Baypark in Mt Maunganui on Saturday night.
Van Gisbergen, who won his third career Supercars title last weekend, has already turned his hand to rallying this year with much fanfare and success. He impressed at Rally New Zealand, where he finished on the podium in the WRC 2 class.
The two-time Bathurst winner will drive the United Truck Parts Sprint Car at select events over the coming weeks.
