Three local sides have qualified for the top six playoffs in the Fox Memorial Premiership with the Howick Hornets, Papakura Sea Eagles and Otahuhu Leopards making it through.

The Hornets gave themselves a chance of a top two finish and a week off next week when they beat the Marist Saints 26-14 at Murry Halberg Park.

Otahuhu Leopards warmed up for the finals with a 62-6 hammering of the Manukau Magpies at Moyle Park.

Meanwhile, the Mangere East Hawks put in a better showing but eventually went down to the Bay Roskill Vikings 54-20.

The Manurewa Marlins thumped the New Lynn Stags 72-12 to jump up to fifth and qualify for the Sharman Cup top six finals.

Top placed Otara Scorpions secured a 28-16 win over the Ponsonby Ponies.

The Papatoetoe Panthers lost to Hibiscus Coast 44-26 while the Pakuranga Jaguars went down to the Northcote Tigers 40-14.

The Otara Scorpions lost for the first time this season in the Women’s Premiership when they fell to Taniwharau 22-20 in a less than ideal build-up to the finals.

The Otahuhu Leopards beat the Manurewa Marlins 34-16.
