The Counties Energy Heat have got their Farah Palmer Cup off to a perfect start with a 51-5 thrashing of Bay of Plenty at Navigation Homes Stadium.

The home side scored in the opening moments through fullback Jaymie Kolose and never took the foot off the pedal in a terrific opening display.

By halftime, Saua Leaupepetele’s side had raced out to a 29-0 lead, and they pushed on to score nine tries in the one-sided demolition.

Blues star Kolose finished with a hat-trick and looked dangerous every time she touched the ball in a promising start in the 15 jumper.

Second-five Shonte To’a scored a double and contributed 16 points while hooker Lulu Leuta also had a try double.

The Counties Energy Heat, who had the opening week bye, head to Wellington next weekend to face the Pride at the Hutt Recreation Ground on Sunday.
