Jamie Reddish has stepped down as coach of the EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls basketball team to concentrate on his as General Manager of Franklin Basketball.

Reddish will continue to oversee the Bulls development pathway and will support the new Bulls coach as well as providing guidance and continue to be a strong leader and advocate for basketball at every level from a Bulls board perspective.

“We have really enjoyed this season and it was fitting to have Jamie at the helm in our first ever home season,” said Bulls GM Scott Kelso.

“He’s been instrumental in the creation of the team and while the offer for him to continue was extended, Jamie has decided that his role in the Franklin Basketball and Bulls development pathways is vital at this time and we all agree that he’s the best person to do that job.”

Reddish said it was his decision to move.

“Now that the Bulls are in a good position moving forward, I feel comfortable being in a support role, rather than needing to lead the Bulls from a head coaching perspective,” Reddish said.

“There will come a time where I’d like to step back into the role, however at this time I feel there’s a great chance to continue to grow and develop our players and help bring in a new leader to our community.”

The organisation will begin the process of looking for a new head coach immediately.

“Jamie is assisting me in finding his replacement and we are excited by the chance to bring in a new leader to continue to grow the club,” Kelso added.

“Our aim as always is to explore all options to find the best fit for us at this time, not only as a team, but also as an organisation.

“I would like to wish Jamie all the best from the organisation, members and partners and thank him for his service to the team. Long may it continue. I look forward to continuing to work alongside Jamie.”
