Pukekohe Metro have won the Inder Lynch T20 after a comprehensive demolition of Manukau City in the final at Bledisloe Park on Saturday.

They started the day needing to beat Manukau City, who had already qualified for the decider, in their final pool match just to advance to the final.

Having scored 174 off their 20 overs, Pukekohe Metro were able to defend the target and set up a rematch in the afternoon, where all the marbles were at stake.

Manukau City skipper Sandeep Patel won the toss and opted to bat first but that was about where their success ended for the day.

Pukekohe Metro captain Reid Somani claimed two scalps, including that of star batsman Patel, in double wicket maiden in the second over of the game and it was all downhill from there for Manukau City.

Blair Lovett picked up 4-24 while veteran spinner Kurt Barnes was brilliant at the other end, giving up just 11 runs off his four overs.

Manukau City were eventually bowled out for 61.

The home side wasted little time in reaching the target, doing so in the ninth over for the loss of only two wickets.
