Pukekohe racer Matt Payne has finished the opening round of the 2024 Supercars round with an eighth and a seventh at the famous Bathurst track.
The Penrite Racing star, who earned a break-through win in the final round of his rookie campaign in 2023, made a solid start to the season at the Bathurst sprint round.
He finished eighth in Saturday’s race before backing that up with a seventh-place finish on Sunday, despite starting outside the top 10.
It means he leaves the opening weekend eighth in the championship.
There series moves to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend in Melbourne next month.
