Manukau City collected first innings points in a draw with Papakura that produced some good quality cricket in the second day of their W.H Taylor Shield match at War Memorial Park.

Papakura were bowled out for 236 on the opening day last week with Manukau City getting to 298 all out and banking some valuable points.

Abhay Kaushal scored a maiden premier half century while Shubham Handa also reached 50 as Papakura gave Manukau City a chase of 151 to win outright in 13 overs.

Once it was obvious a result wasn’t possible, both captains agreed to end the game slightly early.

Karaka claimed first innings points against Weymouth in their contest at Karaka Sports Complex.

Weymouth scored 219 in their first innings last week and Karaka responded with 304 all out in reply.

Sam Varcoe made 92 while Leon Marconi added 71 after brother Marcel was dismissed early on day two for 75.

Rep spinner Rohit Kumar collected three wickets for Weymouth.

Weymouth made it through to 207-9 by stumps with Navdeep Singh scoring 105.

Sam Varcoe completed a nice double, picking up four wickets with the ball.

Pukekohe Metro completed an outright win against Southern Districts – beating the combined entity by an innings and 27 runs on Saturday to move to the top of the table.

The heavy lifting was done a week earlier when Pukekohe Metro posted 385-4 declared and had Southern eight down for less than 100 at stumps.

The Pukekohe Metro bowlers cleaned up the tail to have Southern all out for 115, and then bowled them out a second time for 243 after enforcing the follow-on.

Skipper Reid Somani took three wickets in each innings while David Kingham picked up three in the second innings.

Bayden Morey showed his class, scoring 106 at quicker than a-run-a-ball while Manpreet Singh backed up his 58 in the first innings with 44 in the second for Southern.
