Pukekohe Metro and Papakura square-off in a crucial Inder Lynch T20 competition round robin game at Mountfort Park on Saturday morning.

The two sides picked up a win and a loss on the opening day of competition and will keep themselves well in contention for the final with a second win in the morning game while the loser will be under serious pressure in the afternoon to keep their tournament hopes alive.

Pukekohe Metro won the tournament two summers ago on the way to sweeping all before them in all formats of the game, but the strong club has under-achieved since by their standards.

With match-winners right through their line-up, they remain a dangerous opponent and should find themselves in contention at the pointy end of the competition.

Papakura meanwhile impressed last week, with a young side competing well. The club has great numbers and plenty of raw talent. As we saw last week, if it can adjust to playing Premier cricket they have the means to threaten sides.

Other morning games see defending champions Manukau City face Southern Counties at Karaka Sports Complex while unbeaten Karaka plays winless Weymouth at Mountfort Park.

Manukau City and Karaka will face each other in a replay of last season’s final in afternoon action at Karaka Sports Complex.

Neighbours Pukekohe Metro and Southern Counties will meet at Mountfort Park while Papakura and Weymouth also run into each other.

The morning games start at 10.30am with afternoon games beginning at 3pm.
