Counties Manukau captain and Karaka star Sam Varcoe will play his 100th premier game for the club when they take to the field in the final of the W.H Taylor Shield on Saturday.

Debuting as a teenager back in 2009, Varcoe spent time playing in the Auckland competition before returning after finishing university.

He holds the record for the most Premier runs in a season, has played for Northern Districts A and led Counties Manukau to their recent victory in the Fergus Hickey Rosebowl regional tournament.

Varcoe looms as a key player for Karaka in the final.

A presentation will be made just before the start of play at Karaka Sports Complex on Saturday morning.
