The Franklin Pool & Leisure Arena will get an upgrade starting this week as the basketball courts are replaced ahead of the Franklin Bulls first season playing the Sal’s National Basketball League in Pukekohe.

A new wooden, sprung floor will be installed on the Pukekohe courts between January 25 and February 16 and the Bulls are grateful for the support they have received to make this happen and allow the town to host high level domestic sport.

“This has been a labour of love and we want to thank everyone who has played their part to make this happen,” the Bulls said via their Facebook page. “You know who you are.

“This will transform the building and we are excited to be able to call the FPL Arena our home.”

The Bulls have signed American imports Josh Selby and Zane Waterman as well as four local players and are set to make their Pukekohe debut against cross-town rivals the Auckland Huskies on April 25.

The Bulls made their NBL debut last season in the abbreviated NBL Showdown that was run due to COVID-19 implications.
