The Mangere East Hawks won for just the second time in 2022 as they defeated the Papakura Sea Eagles 42-6 in SAS Fox Memorial Premiership action.

The Hawks grabbed a key road win at Prince Edward Park to keep their finals hopes alive in Section 2.

The Otahuhu Leopards thrashed the Ponsonby Ponies 68-8 to improve their season record to five wins and one loss to hold down a top four spot in the competitive Section 2.

Elsewhere the Papatoetoe Panthers were on the end of 52-0 thumping at the hands of the Richmond Bulldogs while the Pakuranga Jaguars lost 50-12 to the Marist Saints.

In Section 1 play, the Howick Hornets beat fellow South Auckland outfit Manukau Magpies 22-10 to move to second in the standings.

The Otara Scorpions beat Hibiscus Coast 26-10 at Stanmore Bay while the Manurewa Marlins had the bye.
