National League football player Matt Chant has joined Franklin United FC for the remainder of their Northern League season.

The talented Chant comes to Franklin United with a stack of experience having played extensively in the UK before moving to New Zealand.

He spent time at Donhead United, Shaftesbury Town, Gillingham Town, Wincanton Town, Yeovil Town, Bradford Town, Laverstock and Downton in the United Kingdom before heading out to New Zealand.

Since heading Down Under Chant has played for Division 2 side Fencibles United, Waitakere United in the National League and Takapuna in Division 1.

“I have been living in Clevedon for two years, and with work now in the area and such friends as Fredrik Ljungberg in the team I started to consider what would work best for myself and my family< Chant said.

“I came down and had a look at the training, right away it was very well set up and felt like a professional club.

“The facilities at Drury are a class set up, where we can play an attractive yet winning brand of footy.  I am keen to help the club push through the leagues and make Franklin United the Premier club they should be.”
