The Counties Baseball club heads into the final weekend of Auckland Baseball competition before Christmas with a 4-3 record in the premier grade after a good run of form recently.

Having started the season with back-to-back losses against favourites Bayside and an extra innings defeat to Central City, the club bounced back to beat the Hamilton Raiders 15-0 in decisive fashion.

They then fell to North Shore before three successive wins over Waitakere and Howick home and away to propel the side into the top four of the standings.

Randy Yard is among the league leaders in batting average while slugger Dominic Elliott leads the league in home runs and pitcher Taylor Irwin features in the top 10 in strike outs.

The club’s U19 side has had a pair of wins and four losses along with a rain out through the first part of their season.

The U16 Counties side has had a very impressive season so far. They opened the summer with three straight wins over Central City, Hamilton and Bayside Red before falling to Bayside Blue in late November. Since then they have gone on to beat Waitakere and West City in a convincing manner.

The club’s U13 side had back-to-back wins over the Northern Bandits and Waitakere before a loss to Bayside. They then had wins over West City and Howick Black before a loss to Howick Red and beat North Shore over the weekend.
