The Counties Colts Baseball team will meet Auckland’s Central City Mariners in the opening game of the United Airlines National Championships at Lloyd Elsmore Park in Auckland next week.
The Counties and Central teams will battle it out on Diamond 2 from 9am on Thursday April 1 on the first day of the five-day club tournament.
Counties will play two matches on Good Friday – they have a 9am encounter against tournament favourites Bayside Wolves on Diamond 2 before meeting the Howick Pakuranga Hawks on Fellet Field at 3pm.
The Mark Irwin-coached side will face the Orewa Sharks in the opening match of Saturday’s action on Diamond 2 at 9am and finish their round robin play with a game against North Shore at midday on Easter Sunday, on Diamond 2.
Finals day will take place on Easter Monday.
The Counties Colts side picked up Auckland Tuatara utility Kris Richards in the recent draft as well as some talented youngsters to add to their own collection of quality young stars.
