The Otago Nuggets have upstaged the EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls 89-83 in their New Zealand Basketball League contest at Trusts Stadium on Saturday night.

In a quality game both sides demonstrated their title-contending capabilities.

The Bulls started stronger, fell away during the mid-part of the match and closed to within touching distance late before the Nuggets held on to secure victory.

Tall Black Everard Bartlett  was a standout for the Bulls with 19 points and 6 of 10 three-pointers while Dom Kelman-Poto collecting 16 points and eight rebounds. Big man Sam Timmins finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

The loss sees the Franklin side fall to 6-5 record – good enough for fourth place on the congested ladder.

The Bulls will look to bounce back on Tuesday night when they face the Manawatu Jets.
