Kiwi Supercars racer Shane van Gisbergen completed a perfect trifecta of wins at the latest round of the championship at the Bend Raceway in South Australia.

The Red Bull Ampol driver won all three sprint races at a track that has been dominated by the rival Mustangs over the past few seasons.

In addition, Van Gisbergen claimed bonus points in each of the three races for setting the fastest lap of the race to open up a whopping 393 points – more than an entire round worth of points.

On Saturday night Van Gisbergen won the Jim Clark Trophy at the New Zealand Motorsport Awards in Auckland.

The Jim Clark Trophy is awarded annually to a New Zealand driver who shows a sportsmanlike attitude to the sport and fellow competitors and natural ability in “putting up the most meritorious racing performance during the season”.

Fellow Counties Manukau driver Matthew Payne took out the Steel Memorial Trophy, awarded to a junior driver who displays dedication, skill and a level of professionalism.
