Counties Manukau Steelers halfback Jonathan Taumateine has confirmed a move to join Moana Pasifika in next year’s Super Rugby Pacific competition.

The 25-year-old has spent the past two seasons playing for the Hurricanes, having spent 2017-2019 with the Chiefs in Super Rugby.

He played two test matches for Samoa in the July internationals this year and was the first choice halfback with the Steelers before their NPC campaign was cut short due to COVID restrictions in Auckland.

Taumateine made his Steelers debut in 2016 and joins provincial teammates Sekope Kepu, Alamanda Motuga, Ezekiel Lindenmuth, Sam Slade and Alex McRobbie in the inaugural Moana Pasifika squad.
