The Botany Swarm have maintained their unbeaten start to the New Zealand Ice Hockey League season with a pair of wins against the Phoenix Thunder in Auckland over the weekend.

The Swarm hammered the Dunedin outfit 10-0 in a crushing display on Saturday night before securing a 7-3 win against the Thunder on Sunday.

Goaltender Matt Canaday made a perfect 20 saves from 20 attempts in the shut-out win on Saturday night while Petr Stepanek scored a hat-trick for the second week running.

Michael Attwell, Ondrej Kozak, Ivan Dalmatau, Ryan MacDonald, Josh Steen, Dima Koptev and Lennart Wimmer all scored goals in the one-sided result.

Stepanek was among the scorers again on Sunday as the Swarm continued to find their offensive game.

The Swarm head south next weekend for a double-header against the Canterbury Red Devils in Christchurch.
