Pukekohe is set to miss out on hosting the Supercars Championship for a second successive year with an updated calendar expected out today.

The New Zealand round of the Championship had been set for the opening weekend in November but with COVID outbreak across the Tasman creating issues, in addition to a pause to the trans-Tasman bubble, Supercars has been forced to make changes to the schedule.

Championship leader Shane van Gisbergen let the cat out of the bag with a post on social media yesterday.

“Another year of no Supercars in NZ. Gutting. Racing as a kiwi at Pukekohe is the best feeling as a driver. I miss it that’s for sure,” Van Gisbergen posted on Instagram.

The changes are likely to see scheduled stops in Perth, Queensland and New Zealand axed, while the iconic Bathurst 1000 will be pushed back into November.

The series is likely to pause until October, when the Championship will get back underway at Winton, in rural Victoria.

There will be a round at Sydney Motorsport Park, Bathurst and a round on the Gold Coast.
