Pukekohe Park Raceway will hold the Sir Patrick Hogan Stakes race meeting on New Year’s Day Auckland Thoroughbred Racing has announced.

While Pukekohe had long been set to host the New Year’s Day meeting, ATR has renamed the event in honour of the legendary Kiwi racing and breeding figure that passed away in January.

The 2050m race, formerly known as the Royal Stakes, will feature three year old fillies.

ATR plans to conduct 20 race meetings over the 2023/24 season from both Pukekohe Park and Ellerslie, with racing at Ellerslie set to return in 2024.
