Three young Counties Manuaku Heat stars have been selected for a high performance development camp next month in a Black Ferns initiative.

Counties Power Heat youngsters Paris Mataroa, Ocean Tierney and Leititia Vaka have all been included in the squad.

A total of 42 of the most talented up-and-coming stars will be involved in the camp that Black Ferns assistant coach Wesley Clarke said will bridge the gap.

“The Farah Palmer Cup provides a great playing opportunity for our players, but those programmes are not specifically development focused,” Clarke said.

“The aim is to get these players together for a national camp and accelerate their development by exposing them to top level position specific coaching.”

The long term goal is to assemble a New Zealand U20s side for women’s international fixtures.
