New Zealand has beaten Australia at the Trans-Tasman Challenge Cup 2023 held at Masse Pool Hall in Pukekohe on Saturday night.

In the first competition between the two neighbouring countries in over 15 years, a packed Masse Pukekohe saw Marco Teutscher sink the winning shot in a shoot-out after the contest finished two matches all in the 10-ball format.

Teutscher, the 2019 US Open 10 Ball champion who was born in the Netherlands but now resides in New Zealand, was on debut for his adopted country.

The Kiwi team of Teutscher, Sullivan Clark and Denise Wilkinson were presented the trophy to a boisterous round of applause.

It is hoped the competition will become an annual event.
