The Northern Stars will play all games of the revised ANZ Premiership netball season at the Auckland Netball Centre in St Johns when the competition begins on Friday June 19.

All six franchises will be based at the one venue with the two local Auckland sides – the Stars and Northern Mystics – as well as the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic commuting to the venue by car.

The other three franchises will use chartered flights in and out of Auckland.

The 10-week long schedule sees each team play each other twice over Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday fixtures before a triple header finals day on Saturday August 23 where the top two sides will meet in the Grand Final, third and fourth playoff for bronze and fifth and sixth meet to determine the wooden spoon.

Like all sports leagues the ANZ Premiership has had to adapt to the Covid-19 situation and this abbreviated schedule is the best outcome according to Netball New Zealand chief executive Jennie Wyllie.

“While the situation is not ideal, it has also allowed for ingenuity and innovation around how we continue to present matches as a vibrant spectacle and maintain maximum engagement with fans and viewers,” Wyllie said.

“Players are excited about getting back on court and are able to do so thanks to a wide-ranging support base including ANZ, Sky, Premiership and Team partners as well as other contractors.”
