Waiuku Rugby Club has appointed a new president in the form of respected local businesswoman Shelly Cassidy ahead of the 2023 season.

Cassidy is the second female president in the club’s history, following in the footsteps of Bev Kennedy in the early 1980s, and is the only current female in such a position in the region.

She was appointed at the club’s AGM on Monday night and comes highly touted as Waiuku looks to work their way back to being a premier club in the near future.

The club’s Sid Marshall Shield side made it to the final of the 2022 competition.
